Coulson families of Cambridgeshire

The 2 largest  concentrations of Coulson families in England are in East Anglia and Northumberland.  I can trace my family in Cambridgeshire back to 1550.  The largest concentration is in the North East with a big geographic gap between the 2 areas.  Did one family move from one of the areas to the other to start a new life?  Has anybody any theories or facts about this? I have a similar situation to my great grandmother's Sizer family, Cambs. (Soham) and the Alford area of Lincs. I knew two Coulson's at Boston Lincs. 50 years ago, but their antecedents were quite likely in Cambs I would have thought. I believe that it is likely that where there are 2 widely separated groups with the same surname then one of them may have been moved by a land owner to work on another of his estates many miles away.

I find that if one member of a family moved to another area of the  country then the name was spelt differently, due to the strange accent of the newcomer. If the names are spelt the same then that is a coincidence and they probably came out of two different sources.
