Northfield-James Syme
« on: Sunday 06 December 09 16:40 GMT (UK) »
Mr. A. Nesbit, surgeon in Edinburgh purchased Northfield and other properties in Preston in 1746, he sold Northfield to James Syme, slater in Edinburgh but no date when James Syme purchased the house..

I know that James Syme got married in 1783 and lived at Northfield.

Does anyone know if records were kept of the sale and dates of properties  sold in this time period?

Thanks
Mcleod/syme

Hi mcleodsyme,

I notice you have never had any response, the only thing I can come up with is the Records of Sasines these log everything and were started in the 1600's.

Do you live in Scotland ?.

Cheers.

Archie.

Hi Archie

I did find that  James Syme of Northfield who was born in 1751 had a father who of course was named James Syme and finally figured out that it was the father who had bought Northfield from Dr. Nesbitt.

I live in Canada.

Thank you for your help

Helen
