thanks. I need info on John and Mary's parents. Are there any Scottish census records, from before 1870? I know Mary Douglas was born in Glasgow. Lan-something county. (I'm not from Scotland). She would have been born somewhere around 1820.

sorry
I don't know about Scotland census records.
Perhaps if you search and post on the Scotland boards with in Roots chat, someone will be able to assist.

Regards,
Valerie

Hello Tariana,
I also have Fisher and Douglas ancestors from Lonaconing, Maryland but I don't have your John Thomas Fisher and Mary Douglas.  Do you know who John's parents were?  Also Mary's parents?  Thanks.

It's my friend/cousin's family tree. I do not know who Mary's parents were. If the research is correct, then John's folks were George and Elizabeth.

The John Fisher that your friend/cousin has in her family tree married Mary CRAIG in Scotland in 1854 in Ayrshire.  John was my gr grandfather's brother.  They settled in Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland.  In the 1880 census you listed above, there were two children James and Christena.  I would love to check with your friend to see our Fisher connections if any.  Thank you.
Ruth

Hey, I'm the friend/cousin (hey Tari!), anyway this is what I have on the family, I'm afraid everything I know is what was told to my mother by my grandmother, and it's not her family, it's her husband's.  So I don't know where she got the information from.

John Thomas Fisher (from Scotland) married a Mary Douglas from Glasgo, Scotland.  They came to America at some point and had my great-grandfather Robert Fisher (b. 10/10/1893) in Lonaconing, Allegany County MD.  Robert eventually married a Ruth Marion Stowers of Boston, Mass.  They raised their children in Maryland.

So that's pretty much all I know.  Any help on my Great-grandparents would be great.
