Hi,
 the few MIs that are in the Farnley section are just a few of my own family that were sent to me. I know someone has done both the church yard and the newer cemetery on Tong Road, but I have never been able to find out who. It may be that we will have to do the inscriptions ourselves, especially the church yard, as some of the oldest stones have disappeared! Any volunteers?
The work is not a priority though, as we intend to do a full transcription of burials for St Michaels

It's definitely St Michael's, and there is a contemporary record of a tombstone being ordered (from a Thomas Holdsworth), but it may not be still there or still legible.

Do you know any more about Thomas? He is a distant relative of mine. Which contemporary record are you referring to?

Sorry, I know nothing about Thomas Holdsworth, only that Jane Gledhill's tombstone had been ordered from him in 1844. I presume he was the monumental mason. The contemporary source I was referring to was a letter from Jane Gledhill's widower Joseph Gledhill to relatives who had emigrated to Ohio.
