Welcome to Rootschat.

Most of Bocking registers are available to search on Seax.

http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/

If you click on Essex Ancestors on the right hand side you can then choose your parish and church. It may be a bit of a trawl :)

thank you so much everyone! It was interesting to find out he was a widower in 1761 when he married Mary Butcher. HOWEVER, he and Mary Butcher had children between 1762 and 1782......so Edward Rayner must have been born c1740ish to be still having children in 1782! So the marriage to Elizabeth Pallet looks unlikely. It also concerns me that his wife Elizabeth was 36 when she died in 1759 putting her birth around 1723.....unless she was alot older than Edward. However the burial dates all makes sense and tie in!OH!!!! why is this not easy!!!

Can anyone find baptism records for Mary Butcher and Edward Rayner c1720-c1740 in the Bocking area???

thank you everyone for your hard work, it is very much appreciated!!

Maybe Edwards burial.

Edward Rayner
13th October, 1793
aged 70 yrs.
Bocking St. Mary.

A likely contender for that first marriage, 38 when marrying Mary and having children into his fifties, not at all unknown. :)
