Please Help to find Edward G Yelf
« on: Tuesday 01 December 09 17:10 GMT (UK) »
Please help me to locate an ancestor.

Edward George Yelf b.1845 Windsor, Berkshire.
Known to have lived in Salisbury.

I have found him in 1851, 1861, 1891 and 1901.

Can someone help to locate him in 1871 and 1881 census?

He married in December 1881 in Newbury, so he should be a single person for the 1871 and 1881 census.
In 1861 his occupation was described as a pupil teacher and in 1891 he was an Estate Agents Clerk.

Thankyou for your help. Much Appreciated.

Sorry that was 1861 - Tressle

That is really weird, getting peculiar results on FindMyPast. Searching the 1881 and yet it is bringing up 1861 results.   Anyone else having a problem.

good find  :)

Turns out that pages 5 to 9 (Schedules 23 to 45) are missing from Ancestry   :(

Interesting to see that he may be shown as a WID(ower). I could not find a female Yelf (of the names on the Marriage Index) death between that 1870 marriage and the 1871 census.

Regarding the 1881 census.

I see that Louisa Hill was in Offley, Herts in that census - at the address given in the 1891 census for their childrens birthplace.

I wondered if Edward was in the area, but no sign.

Also the Salisbury area seems to have attractions for them.
