Oh  dear me I did wonder why you girls were looking for FLYNN when I looked at it .it said LYNN in the title,

we will have to await familyfinder logging back in  to give us the correct surname

Original heading seems to be LYNN and then #2, #3 and #4 has FLYNN and then back to LYNN.
Hopefully familyfinder will let us know which it is.

I have modified this title to FLYNN which is the correct name. The thread has been moved I believe and the "F" must have been lost in transit!

We have no more information than I have disclosed above in the original subject and post I'm afraid. The only reason we know that she died in Australia was that she left some money to her brother back in the fifties according to another relative.

I know from other branches of my family that Australian certificates are very informative and give information such as mother's maiden name, even on a death certificate, as Australian relatives have e mailed copies in the past to confirm our connection.

You don't happen to know the brothers name Ellen left the money to do you? I don't know how it will help but it is another piece of the puzzle. She must have had a will in some state, but which state and under what name  Thinking out loud here lol

It is nice to know that we hadn't gone quite gaga   searching for Flynn.

I did check NZ for Ellen Flynn as well  9  in all 7 most unlikely but 2 possibles :

Ellen Wallace died 1959 aged 72 married  William Kirby  Wallace 1903 and less likely on date:
Ellen Houlihan died 1943 61  married John Houlihan 1914

Don't overlook NZ as many families in England often referred to their family as being in Australia but in actual fact they were in New Zealand.

A quick update on this.

We have recently found out that her name was Ellen Mary Flynn and she apparently lived in Canberra.

Is it possible she married in England prior to coming to Australia?

Born in 1889 in London and emigrated to Australia sometime between 1901 and 1911 we believe possibly because of an unstated family problem.

It is possible that she married  but we are unsure. However we do know that she died in the 1950s in Australia.

Have you searched for her on the 1911 Census?

I cannot find her leaving the UK or arriving in Australia in the years you mention under the name Ellen Mary FLYNN.
