Ellen FLYNN (Parents John and Emily nee PODGER)

Born in 1889 in London and emigrated to Australia sometime between 1901 and 1911 we believe possibly because of an unstated family problem.

It is possible that she married  but we are unsure. However we do know that she died in the 1950s in Australia.

Hi family finder,
I checked New South Wales couldn't see anything there.
I have found one vague possibility in Victoria. Given there was some family estrangement the informant on the death certificate may not have known her parents correct names. It is only  a possibility. The marriage certificate would/should have her birthplace and fathers name on it and how long she had been in Victoria for.

A  search on the NSW online indexes reveals some possibilities:

1913 marriage for an Ellen Flynn to John Oconnor in   rego# 6506 in St Leonards

and in 1953 a death in Bondi for Ellen Oconnor, parents John and Ellen rego# 13725

a 1917 marriage to  Michael  Ryan rego # 7249
and death in 1957 of Ellen Ryan paretns John and Ellen rego #3739

the NSW site was the only one that hada some real possibilities as listed above. Unfortuately ages are not given nore is the mother's surname and while the mother's name is given as Ellen in both cases it could have been given by a spuse who did not know the correct name.

Here are some more vague possibilities, at least the ages are about right

Nora Ellen  ENGLISH d 1953 aged 53 Parkville  parents John FLYNN mother unknown # 3978
Mary Ellen PHILLIPS  d 1959 aged 62  Gardenvale parents  Flynn unknown  mother unknown # 12197

I see regross has come up with some possibilities I missed { 2 heads are better than one } .

I was cross checking all Ellen Flynn marriages 1901-1920 against deaths to Ellen married names.

Ruled them all out all had parents listed fathers surname as Flynn but not John and mothers name not even in the proximity.   

Only one apart ,from Jarvie  that you found, remained and I could not find a death was one for Ellen Needs/Woods (marriage was indexed under both surnames. There is an Ellen Needs death but way way too young (b 1920 and not as Flynn).

I winder if familyfinder has a city or state asscoiated with her?

Looks to me as if the name has be modified

Sure it was Flynn, looking at the thread titles, now it is LYNN

Alison replied re Flynn as well! Both of us would not have made the same mistake

Oh well it's a completely different case if it is Lynn

Following up on the Lynn Baker possibilty,

Several Ellen Bakers died in Qld in the 1950's,
Mary Ellen Baker 1951 father JOhn Keleher mother Susan Campbell
Rosa Ellen  Baker 1955 father William Warner anad Lucy Buckingham
Ellen 1955 John Furguson and Mary
Mary Ellen Baker 1959 John Lane and Ellen Hanna

1956 a death of Ellen Annie Lynn Charles James Crump and Ann Allen Davis

So I would say theya re all unlikely candidiates.

The only Ellen Lynn arriving in Qld was in 1888 and she was  39.

Nothing matching in Vic, NSW or WA

Modified to add

NZ has a marriage for Ellen Lynn to Frederick William George Rogers in 1910.

Several NZ deaths for Ellen Rogers in the '50's two wold have birth dates c1888

1951 Ellen Rogers aged 66 and 1955 Ellen Rogers aged 70.
