His fathers name was John, died 1784. His mothers name was Jane ? (maiden name not known) she died 1795.

Hi,
You probably already know this but the Cumbria FHS have transcribed all the
St Nicholas Church Whitehaven
Baptisms  1694 - 1837
Marriages 1694 - 1837 (Reprint)
Burials  1694 - 1837

Their website is
http://64.177.198.178/genuki/cfhspub.html

According to the IGI there is a
BRIDGET SLOAN  - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 13 DEC 1761 St Nicholas, Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
Parents:
     Father:     JOHN SLOAN
     Mother:     JANE
