ROSSER Careg y Rhew & Coroners Inquests
« on: Saturday 28 November 09 23:50 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I have identified a relative Henry ROSSER who died in 1873 (aged 64) at Careg y Rhew, Margam. Died from natural causes but information on the death was reported to the registrar by Howell Cuthbertson Coroner for Glamorganshire Inquest held 5th Sept 1873.

Two queries :
Does anyone know anything about Careg y Rhew, Margam? was it an old village in the area or some sort of industrial area? I've tried some general internet searches but nothing comes up.
Secondly, does anyone know if the records from Inquests are kept from that era, and if so where?
Many Thanks :)

Carreg y rhew will get you more; scroll down to a section entitled 'Farms'. You may find more elsewhere.
                Best of luck,

Found from more searching that 'carreg y rhiw' ('hill' instead of 'ice') gets other results. I suppose there must have been different versions of the name.

Thank You, I'll have a look now, took the spelling from the death cert. :)
