Gee's in Leicestershire

Hello Egyptian,

Looks like we have the same Great Grandfather. Presume we are talking of Framework Knitters, shoemakers in Leicester etc.

Here is a picture of my Grandfather (Thomas's brother) with his daughters, have you any of your Grandfather or others of Gee clan?

My Grandfather Alfred Gee, then his daughters Annie May, Ethel & Amy Gee - although I know that Ethel is in the middle of the three but I am not sure which is which of the other two.  I don't know who the lady is giving the child an apple, might be my Grandmother, I never met them.

 children
 charles stubley born 1886
alfred gee born 1890
frances gertrude gee born 1893
 arthur edgar gee born 1894
 walter sydney gee born 1896
thomas gee born 1899 (my grandfather)

my dad remembers a "stubley living 2 doorsaway from them as kids & his father thomas never spoke to him there was some hatred going on there !!!11

alfreds father was thomas gee born 1829 he married mary ann watts
 on their marriage certificate it says
 12th june 1854 married leicester registry office
 thomas was 24 yrs & mary was 23 years
 thomas was a framework knitter
 both lived 28 lewin street leicester

 their fathers were william gee (freamework knitter) & william watts (framework knitter)

 now william gee married charlotte vann 23rd sept 1818 blaby
 william gee born 1794 blaby & charlotte 1800 great glenn

 i have some piccys of my grandfather but i need to scan onto pc

William Gee 1 was born about 1805 in Of, Preston, Rutland, England. He married Elizabeth Sneath on 1 Jun 1830 in Ayston, Rutland, England.

Henry Gee [Parents] was born on 11 Oct 1866. He died on 11 Sep 1935. He married Fanny Merrall on 28 Mar 1891 in St Matthews Leicester. Henry was employed as Mechanic.

Fanny Merrall [Parents] was born on 10 Apr 1868. She was christened on 10 Jan 1869. She died in Dec 1938. She married Henry Gee on 28 Mar 1891 in St Matthews Leicester. Fanny was confirmed on 12 May 1883.

       M   i    Charles William Gee was born on 13 Jun 1907. He died on 22 May 1980.
       M   ii    Arthur Henry Gee was born on 12 Apr 1894. He was christened on 9 May 1894. [Notes]
       F   iii    Fanny Phillis Gee was born on 26 Jan 1896. She was christened on 24 Feb 1896. She died on 26 Feb 1896.
       M   iv    George Albert Gee "alby" was born on 1 May 1897. He died on 23 Jun 1918 in Leicester. He was buried in Welford Road Cemetary, Leicester. [Notes]
       M   v    James Horace Gee was born on 3 Jun 1899. He died in 1901.
       M   vi    Frank Victor Gee was born on 1 Jun 1902. He died on 6 May 1970.
       M   vii    Thomas Leonard Gee was born on 25 Mar 1904. He died on 13 Dec 1987.

Hey all,

My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Gee, daughter or Thomas and Mary Ann Gee.

Her brothers were Thomas, Alfred and John Watts Gee.

In Drobbly's post earlier he mentions that his ancestor William Gee married Elizabeth Sneath in Ayston on 1 June 1830. According to the Family Search site a William Gee married an Elizabeth Evertt in Ayston on 31 May 1830. The same site also states that William Gee married Elizabeth Sneath on 31 May 1830. I guess that they can't both be correct. Ayston was too small a village to have such a coincidence surely!

I appreciate that Family Search may not always be correct, given the source of some of its records, but I'd be interested in the provenance of Drobbly's source because if both are intended to be the same marriage, one of the records must be incorrect.

I ask because I believe that this William Gee was one of my great great grandfathers.
