1841 census London, Middlesex
« on: Saturday 12 March 05 04:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm seeking ggggf James or Christopher Wright born c1806, Cork Ireland. Occupation umbrella maker.

Should be with wife Mary (Ireland) daughter Catherine c1830(Bucks) and son James c1836 London, Middlesex.

By 1851 they are in Oxford, but as James Jnr was born here I'm hoping they may still be in London at census time.

thanks,
sally

Hi Sally
Unfortunately, no index for the 1841 census yet that I have found.
Do you have an address to check?

sorry cougar, no info other than their son James was born there in 1836... in every later census they live in the main shopping precinct of whatever town they are in.

Thanks anyway,
Sally

Sally what is the address for the 1836 birth - do you want me to try there for you?

Hi again,

the only varifiable record I have for James Wright c1836 is his 1851 census which says age 14, born London, Middlesex.

His older sister (my gggm) is born in Bucks, but they are not there in 1841 or any census after. This is why I hoped they were in London at this time.

Parents James(sometimes called Christopher) & Mary Wright were from Cork, Ireland.

I don't know if this is enough information for you to look anywhere else?

Thanks for taking so much trouble.
Sally T

Hi again Sally
I gather you are estimating the year of birth for James and don't have his certificate??
Unfortunately the London CD set has around 40 sep. CD's covering London and 1/2 Middlesex so would not be able to just 'have a look'
Have you checked to see when the parents came from Ireland - if they were born there, was James?
Have you checked the IGI for his birth?
Sorry, questions - no answers,

Hi again,

don't worry about it.... IGI doesn't have my wrights at all, wherever they've lived.

Once they hooked up with the Dixons in 1850 they haven't moved from Oxford, but I can't find birth records for any of them before the civil reg. starts in 1837.

Not to worry. One day I'll go the UK and sort it in person!

Thanks,
Sally

Hi Sally

I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and noticed this older request.  Are you still looking for this information or resolved in the meantime?  If you're still after the information, any other details come to light that might help find them?
