Let's start with the most recent and work our way backwards:
ELIZA(BETH) BARTY:
born about 1834
married GEORGE WILL in Dundee on Dec. 2 1851 (source: Church records)
died Oct 19 1875 in Dundee (death certificate). Her parents are listed as: David Barty and Janet Strathearn. Her husband, George Will, signed as witness. I never found a marriage for David Barty and Janet Streathern. I believe her husband mistakenly identified his father-in-law as David, when in fact, his name was William Barty. There is in fact a marriage of William Barty and Janet Strathearn. I confirmed this with the death certificate of Eliza's brother, DAVID BARTY. David died Feb. 14 1859 in Dundee. His mother is listed as Janet Barty, maiden name Strathearn. His father is listed as WILLIAM Barty. The witness is once again none other than George Will, brother-in-law. So Eliza's parents were:
WILLIAM BARTY (married to Janet Strathern):
This couple had at least 7 children (source: parent search on LDS internet site and Vital Statistics CD-Rom for British Isles at LDS. They were:
Mary Barty (born 1813)
Janet Barty (1817-1894, married John Stewart (death cert.)
David Barty (1820 - mentioned above - died 1859)
Jean Barty (1822-1875, married Alexander Gray (death cert.)
William Barty (born 1825)
John Barty (born 1826)
Eliza Barty (born about 1834)
This William Barty died Nov 25 1861 in Rattray (Perth). His death certificate mentions he is the widower of Janet Strathearn. His parents are listed as:
WILLIAM BARTY (and Ann Barty M.S. Mill). I have found no marriage of these two. However, Ann and Agnes were often interchangeable. I did find a marriage (on the LDS site) for William Barty and Agnes Miln, married Apr 9 1790 in Kettins (Angus). I have found the following children for William and Agnes:
Margaret Barty - her death certificate states her parents are William Barty and Agnes Milne
Mary Keary - same as above
David Barty - death certificate states parents are William Barty and Agnes MILL.
I would very much like to have information on your Barty family both from Australia and from Scotland.
