Westher,
You will be interested in the book
The Morley Families of Halifax, West Yorkshire by J.A.E. Morley and C.S.B. Morley. It is available for free online viewing at
http://www.MorleyOfHalifax.com. Your Michael Morley is (in the present edition) treated in entry B48 on page 319. From his 1848 marriage certificate (transcribed at
www.lan-opc.org.uk) we know for certain that his father’s name was John. In the above book I argue that this John was most likely the son of David MORLEY and Grace HELLIWELL, of Wheatley Royd Farm, Brearley, Halifax, Yorkshire.
I suppose it is plausible that your sources mistook ‘Halifax’ for ‘Hull’.
The John Morley that married Mary HINCHLIFFE also appears in this book, on page 281. The two John Morleys were first cousins; the husband of Mary Hinchliffe stayed in Yorkshire and was a schoolmaster at Cragg Vale, Halifax.
I agree with everything else stated by Luzzo, Duck and mosiefish. The purported link to Leicestershire is indeed unfounded.
