Thank you for your information. This is very much appreciated.

I have very little to work with and so far your information on Edwin, the son of William and Elizabeth is the most promising. The Edwin Bennett I am researching immigrated to NZ in Oct. 1858, at age 22yrs. This indicating he was born about 1836.
The only NZ documents that mention age or DOB are his death and burial records which both have the same age; 64Y (death date; 02/03/1902). This indicating he was born around the 1838 period. which ties in with the 1841 census as being son of William & Elizabeth.
There appears to be no other record that states his age or DOB.

I am intrigued with the 1841 census surname spelling of “Berrett” for William 20 Louisa 11 and Dinah 8
Is this the same in 1851 and after?

Hi Donald,
I think I have found Edwin for you. On both the 1841 and 1851 the surname 'Bennett' has been transcribed incorrectly for the family who were indeed in North Kilworth. Looking at the actual returns confirms this although it's possible to see how the errors were made.

From the IGI:

George Bennett and Martha Weston married 28 November 1826 St Nicholas Leicester.

There is also a reference to a George Bennett being buried at North Kilworth 19 December 1878.  If Mike can confirm this at the R.O. I'll pop over to North Kilworth next weekend and see if there's a gravestone and take a photo.

I've just checked this with the BMD's and it appears that George Bennett died in June qtr 1872 aged 68 Registered at Lutterworth, Vol 7a page 4.
And it looks as if it was Martha Bennett who died in December qtr 1878 Registered at Rugby .

It would certainly appear you are all on the correct trail of sorting and resolving Edwin’s family. You all seem to have excellent access to researching genealogy, making you a most reliable source of information. Is it possible your information also discloses information on his siblings?
