Check out 'You Tube'  someone has very kindly put on a 5 minute cine film of dark lane.  Brilliant!!!!!!!!!  just put 'dark lane in the 1960's' in the search box.

Thank you s.g.d for those links, I didn't realise that they were on you tube, it is wonderful to see it for 'real' so to speak instead of the couple of photo's I picked up off the web.  Who knows I might have been looking at some distant relatives.

Hi Rob

I have passed that information onto my mom and she will relay it to her husband who is related to the Pooles.  Could you give me your email address so I can contact you  direct as I'm not very good at using this site.

Thanks Lisa

I know I am comming late to the conversation but my mom would talk about this place as part of her childhood,  I have since inheited this book, her parents lived there for a while, not sure why this brought such fond memories for her.  Their last name would have been Hudson,  I believe Tart was my grandmothers maiden name and Shirley Tart sounds familiar....

Hi

Always nice to hear from descendents whose family lived in Dark Lane all those years ago.

It was at the time of the 1871 census that my Great Great Grandfather Richard Poole and his family lived next door to a branch of the Tart family.

I must admit I haven't read the book completely all the way through, at the moment I have been just picking out sections relating to any Poole's that are mentioned and their pictures.

Any other information I can help with please do not hesitate to ask.

 :) Hi RobP

Are you still wanting to contact Melville and Dennis Rogers the author of the book and maker of the film on YouTube?

Hi Dragoness

Sorry for the delay getting back to you and yes it would be great to be able to talk to Melville or Dennis about the book and perhaps glean some more information from them.  :)

Hi Lisa

I'm afraid I cannot actually remember if I replied to your message (all those months ago) or not, many apologies if I didn't.

And in answer to you question that you asked some time ago, yes, thank you it would be great to talk to someone who is related to the Poole's from Dark Lane and which branch of the Poole's he came from.

my e-mail is (*)

again many apologies for leaving it so long and look forward to hearing from your dad soon (I hope)

thanks again

Rob
