Dear Dawn
I'm not sure if my messages have got mixed up but I didn't receive an 'email' message.  Or perhaps I'm just a bit too impatient   :-\

Hello Dbee, I am new to Roots but my little knowlege may be of interest to you. About 1947 I stayed in Lisson Grove in a flat visiting relatives. Renee Alex a bookmaker and children Josaphine and Michael. During this time we went to Madam Tuesords ?  and the Lords cricket ground plus many times to Regents park.  The flat was several levels up. Iremember uncle Ben was at Grimsby or Hull in the police force. Betty Balcombe Renees siter was married to Bob who was a military police man at one time, Ihave an idea they lived at Bognor Regis, but am not certain of that. The date Imentioned could have been 1945 put it down to me being over 21!!!!

Hello Tryin, It was good to read some of your memories of Portman Buildings, especially because I knew the people you mention, I spent many happy times visiting the buildings where I stayed mainly with my grandparents, probably 1948/1950ish and after the recent celebrations couldn't help thinking that the courtyard within the buildings must have been a perfect place to hold a coronation party, I'm sure there must have been one. Would love to see photos if anyone knows of any.
