Emma Herring Montreal. Passeger list
« on: Sunday 22 November 09 15:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone
Can some one help me with a ship passenger list.
My search is for info on a Mrs Emma Herring Born 1890 who emigrated to Montreal Canada in 1911. She was married to a William J Herring and lived in Drake St. Montreal.
I am guessing that she returned to the UK in 1925 to be at her mothers wedding

I have just found a photo which is I believe of Emma and her sister Florence taken when she returned to the UK in about 1925, this I think may have been to attend the wedding which took place in Birmingham.
September 1925.

There's a Mrs Emma Herring aged 29 on the Adriatic arrived Halifax Nova Scotia in September 1919 with 3 children: William 9, Leonard 6, and Frederick 2. En route to Montreal.  Had lived in Canada before - 2 years in Montreal 1912-1914.

Emma was already back in England when William joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in September 1914. The address given for her as next of kin was 4 Winchester Place Alum Rock Road ....Birmingham.

Hi ShaunJ
Many thanks for your quick response to my query.
The info about Emma confirms previous info supplied.
But what I am struggling with is whether Emma and her sister made a visit to England somewhere between 1925 - 1926?

Regards Henery

I don't have a passenger list, but I am Emma Jane Green Herring's grandaughter and my name is Jane. I am Frederic's daughter. The picture of Emma and her sister Florence would be correct as they came and went from England together. Florence had no children and her 1st husband died in the Dardanelles in 1stWW. I have the warmest memories of all the days I spent with Nana & Grandad @ 5434 Drake St. Uncle Bill suffered from multiple sclerosis and died of a heart attack, uncle Len was killed in a car accident, Frederic died of mitral valve disease (CHF) and I wonder what happened to uncle Bob (RD for Robert Douglas)?

I'm sure that Henery will be thrilled to have established modern day contact with Emma's descendants.

You can use the PM button (the scroll button on the left) to contact each other.  Usually this function only works if you have posted 3 times.  Just reply to this thread 2 more times (with or without any information - a simple hello would suffice) and then you can PM.

On the left hand side you see the username you logged in with.  Underneath that at the very bottom is a picture icon and a scroll that lights up green when you are online.  That scroll is the PM button.  Just click on it underneath Henery's name to send them a private message.  Hope that's clear.
