I've found a Caroline Isaacs in the 1871 census.  She is listed as granddaughter.   Living in Great Berry Street, Wolverhampton.

Esther Nathan 56 - head
Sarah Goldstone 60 - sister
Louise Isaacs  35 - daughter
Joshua Isaacs 4 - grandson
Annie Isaacs 2 - granddaughter
Soloman Isaacs 1 month - grandson
Caroline Isaacs 7 - granddaughter.

I know its not Catherine, but possibly just misheard?  Certainly Catherine existed as she has a birth record (Wolverhampton, Vol 6b, page 441).  So if you get out the certificate it will shed some light on her family and clarify if the above records is in any way related to the lady you are looking for.

There are many Catherine Isaac weddings but all seem to be in the London area.

Thanks to the two contributors, the census details are correct but where did she go from there I wonder?

Thanks again

Presume this is her parents marriage - it's the only one in Wolverhampton

Marriages March qtr 1863

Lewis Isaacs  Wolverhampton  6B 619
Louisa  Nathan

You need to check the 1881 for her parents or check freebmd for either of their deaths/re-marriage

Geoff

I have found the family again in 1881 - living in what reads like "21 Marshall Street", Birmingham.  Again she is listed as Caroline.  Her occupation is given as "Coat Maker".  Her place of birth is given as Dudley, Staffs.

Louisa Isaacs, 40
Caroline Isaacs, 17
Joshua Isaacs, 14
Anne Isaacs, 11
Solomon Isaacs, 10
John Isaacs, 7
Esther Nathan, 66

And in 1891 I have found Louisa and John Isaacs only living together at 91 Jersey Street, New Cross, Manchester.  No reference to the other family members.

Looking at the marriages again, there is a Caroline Jane Isaacs marrying a Joseph Henry Gillott in 1885, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Cheshire.

District: Ashton-Under-Lyne
County: Cheshire
Volume: 8d
Page 660.

Given we know Caroline's mother and brother were living in Manchester in 1891, could it be possible they all moved sometime after the 1881 census?

Ashton-unde-lyne is (according to google maps) just 6 miles from Manchester.  So if they did move, this could be her.  Maybe not, but perhaps worth calling out her birth certificate and this one to see if the father's name matches...
