A Thomas Parslow ( my 2nd cousin 3 x removed) in the 1881 census was a Beer and Wine Seller, at The Wrythe, Carshalton Surrey. My interest in this is, years ago I lived a short distance from The Wrythe. Is there any way I could find the address of the premises the family occupied.?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Kaysy,
I had a look at the image & Thomas seems to be between Eleu? Villas & William Street.  Street numbering came into use later in the century so it's pretty difficult to pin down a specific house or business. The family appears to occupy a pub called, 'The Rose', right next door to another pub called, 'The Cricketers' .  They've probably changed names by now but a good starting point.
Of course by 1891 he's moved to Lambeth so that's not very helpful either  ::)
You could ask at the Honeywood Museum in Carshalton, perhaps they could help

Hi

Sutton Local Studies Centre will hold directories and as he was living at The Rose it shouldn't be too difficult to find him.

Hi Jane &  Valda, Thank you so much for your replies to my query.
I  have a book "Inns Tavern and pubs of the London Borough of Sutton", Jane, there is a sketch of "The Rose" which I compared with the Frith Photo, I have just realised that I had been there once when I lived in Carshalton, can't be the one that was there in 1881.
This "The Rose" I have found was built in 1933, I wonder if it was built on the site of the one that was there in the 1881 census.
Next thing to do I will contact Sutton Local Studies Centre.
"The Cricketers" is still there on the corner of Wrythe Lane and William Street.
Thank you both once again for your help. I will now see what I can find out about "The Rose" pub that was there in 1881.
Regards,
Kaysy

Kaysy,
I have a feeling that The Rose that's there today was probably built on the site of the old one.  All references that I've found seem to indicate that that's where it was in 1881, close to William St.
The villa that I mentioned earlier 'Eleu', might be ELM Villas  :-\
Good luck in your search,

jane
