McAulay Family Cushendall

I'm looking for information on my grandmother's family and decendants.

She was born Anne McAulay on 2 Dec 1877(Cushendall) and married James Dougan in Glasgow (1910). Their children were Alexander, Francis and Margaret.

Her parents were Charles McAulay and Anne McElheron.

I remember as a child visiing relations in Ballymena/Ballycastle in the 1950's.

Any information will be greatfully appreciated

Her father's occupation on her marriage certificate is quite hard to read:
something like 'horse shoer....'

Horse-shoer would be blacksmith- see link to 1911 census which might be the correct Charles.

          I cannot find the marriage of Charles and Anne but while looking I came across two families in the 1851 census. This census no longer exists but was used to claim the old age pension when it was introduced in 1909.

The Family of Alexander McElheron looks a possibility.

From the 1911 Census Anne McAuley (nee McElheron)  was aged 65 yrs, therefore born c1846. Given that the ages shown on Census forms may not be accurate this Anne could be same Anne you show as being aged 2 from the 1851 Census.
The Census also shows that she had been married for 36 yrs, therefore married c1875.
My grandmother Anne McAuley was born in 1877, so this may be her mother. Her first child was called Alexander, perhaps after her grandfather.

John McAulay mar Jane Neill
Their daughter Elizabeth McAulay was my 2x Great grandmother. She married Hugh McIlroy in 1889.

McAuley is the most common surname in the Glens of Antrim. (A bit like Smith in many other locations.) You will need to provide a bit more information about your particular ancestors to have any chance of finding links.
