Well I just can't believe how quickly you acces all the info.  I started tracing our tree 25 years ago and on my father's side it seemed so easy but then trying to follow the maternal links was a nightmare.  I just don't know how you managed to follow the thread???

Not too complicated, was it?

Was Elizabeth Scarratt born ca. 1880?

Thanks to all who responded to Annmoo's requests re. Henry Rodwell Yates.
I am a Great-Grandson of HRY and found your conversations on the internet when starting investigations
on him. I am the grandson of Horace C Yates and  the son of Kenneth R C Yates. HRY's Leicester addresses are both on the edge roads of Spinney Hill Park - at that time one of the very best addresses on the fringe of rapidly expanding Leicester. I too was told by my father he had had 21 children but have only so far found 14 surviving to censuses.
Annmoo: Can I be of help on this corner of HRYs enormous brood ! ? You're descended from
(Harry) Beaumont Yates ?

Yay I have a living relative here on Roots!!!!  Hi Anthony.

I have actually got all 21 names of the children but I am always hungry for information on the family.  I grew up around Spinney Hill and knew that we had family dotted all around there.  I do get a little confused at times as to who is full or half blood related lol.  Mum always talks with great affection of her grandfather Harry Beaumont and she tells me that her great decorating skills came from watching him at work.  She even named my brother Gary 'Beaumont' Mills.  I do remember my mum's half sister Linda who I occasionally see and who gave me some wonderful photographs of great grandparents and great aunts.  I know that my grandmother Annie and her husband split up in 1944 and he moved in with the lady who later became his second wife (Linda's mum).  Apparently they only lived a few doors away in Earl Howe Street.

We will definitely have to share info although I don't know the best way to do that.  Any ideas??

Annie xxx

Hello Cousin Annie !
Your Mum who must have been impressed is my 2nd cousin and you my 2nd cousin once removed if I understand these things correctly.
Are you in Nottingham or Leicester or where ? I'm in Evington Leicester about 1.5 miles from Spinney Hill.
I'm trying to send you a Personal Message with my Email address ( but failing). I'm very new to Rootschat as well as Ancestry Research, would it help if you sent one to me ? Are you on email ?
Horace Charles Yates lived Mostyn St off Evington Rd but died 1937 so I never knew him. Dad was always v proud of HRYand the Rodwell link  , said he had 2 houses for all the children.
HCY had Phillip (moved to Sheffield),Kenneth(dad),and the 3 beautiful sisters Mary,Marion and Margaret all sadly now passed away. I got into this through investigating maternal side after GGgrandfathers will was discovered in an attic and was published in Burton Mail. Maternal side lived Oakthorpe about 2 miles from Ch Gresley tho parents met Leicester. Love to know about the other 7 kids - never seen photos only of HCY who was just 4 foot 11 ! Hope we can get in touch.
