Hi Viv
Thank you for the generous offer. Perhaps you can help me break down my brick wall. I'm trying to track the origins of my 2nd great grandfather, Francis Bennett (father Denis, mother Hannah) who came to Australia in the 1860s. From certificates in Australia, it seems he was born somewhere between 1830 and 1840.
I think I have his family in 1851 - could you look at the census details to confirm that Denis is the head etc as I haven't got ages or relationships:
1851 Census Liverpool - Ref 2180/1 - 172A
BENNETT Bernard Horse Shoer Ireland
BENNETT Dennis Corn Porter Ireland
BENNETT Hannah -- Ireland
BENNETT James -- Lancs, Liverpool
BENNETT John Scholar Ireland
BENNETT Michael Errand Boy Ireland
BENNETT Patrick Scholar Lancs, Liverpool
I have been told that this entry is on LDS film number 87179 (I don't know if you need that).
Also on the same LDS film is:
1851 Census, Liverpool, Piece 2180/1, Folio #160A
Bennett, Frank corn porter Ireland
This could be my Francis
and on on LDS film 87182 is:
1851 Census Liverpool - Ref 2181/4 - 834
BENNETT Arthur - Roper Lancs, Liverpool
BENNETT Catherine - -- Lancs, Liverpool
BENNETT Frank - Dock Labourer Lancs, Liverpool
This could also be him. He is supposed to have been born in Liverpool, but there is a possibility that it could have been Ireland.
If it is possible to trace Denis and Hannah in the 1861 census, that would be tremendous.
I think I have their deaths:
Deaths Mar 1866
Bennett Hannah 50 Liverpool 8b 173
Deaths Mar 1867
Bennett Denis 57 Liverpool 8b 109
I have been following a Patrick Bennett (1881 and 1891), who I am sure is the one from 1851 as he names some of his children Hannah, Denis, Francis and Bernard.
Any infromation at all that you could get about Denis and Hannah would be wonderful, as what I have written above is all I have.
Regards
Shelley
