JACKSON Gainsborough Lincolnshire
« on: Monday 16 November 09 07:22 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I've been looking for the parents of William Richard JACKSON, born around 1812 Gainsborough Lincolnshire.  He married Elizabeth Jane CADBY in 1838 Sydney Austalia.
They had 10 children in Australia one of them was named Robert Naylor JACKSON born 1850.
My friend did some searching on the 1851 census and found...
JACKSON Richard 62 Head Farm Labourer, Kelsey, Lincolnshire, Worlaby Lincolnshire.
NAYLOR Mary 37 Daughter widow Dressmaker Kelsey, Lincolnshire,Worlaby, widow dressmaker.
NAYLOR Charles 6 Grandson scholar Worlaby.
As we can't find any connection to the name Robert Naylor,  we thought maybe... If William Richard kept in touch with family in England, our Robert Naylor Jackson may have been named after Mary's husband. ?????? NAYLOR.
Does anyone know of any avenues how to pursue  this connection or discount it?  Would be wonderful if it was our Richard Williams father and his sister.
Any help would be really appreciated
Thank you
Raina

Perhaps, somewhere, this is relevant-

Marriage 13 Aug 1766 at Gainsborough
John JACKSON to Hannah NAYLOR

This would be the relevant marriage for what you found in 1851
Marriages Dec 1843
JACKSON    Mary        Glanford Brigg    14   619
NAYLOR    Charles         Glanford Bg    14   619

Richard JACKSON married Ann FRANKLIN at Worlaby in 1812.  They had children bap at Worlaby in 1813, 1815 and 1818.  I suspect he never left the place.

For some reason, there are no 1812 baptisms for Gainsborough around :(  Plenty for -1811 and for 1813-.

Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thankyou Geoff
All sounds very promising.
If Richard married Ann in 1812, then quite possible our Richard Jackson could have been born in 1813.
Would you be able to find the names of the children born in 1813,1815 and 1818?  Or is there a way I can look them up myself?
Thank you Geoff
Very much appreciated

If you insist ... I don't see what they had to do with anything.
21 Nov 1813 Mary
17 Dec 1815 Elizabeth
10 May 1818 Anne

As I said, there's a gap in the Gainsborough records for 1812 ... there were two or three JACKSON couples breeding there around that time.

You can look things up here http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

If you want to investigate Gainsborough JACKSONs search from here

I would have thought that your man was a grandson of the 1766 marriage at Gainsborough.

Thanks very much Geoff
I just wanted to know the names of the other children to make sure there was a Mary, who married a Charles Naylor.
Thankyou again for your help
