Rory, first off welcome to Rootschat, and what a great start, arriving with really interesting information plus an offer of help.
About your concern that nobody will see it - this is just to let you know that the system most of us have set sends us an alert when a new reply to one of our posts is made, and there's always the 'new replies to your posts' section at the top of pages, so there is a very good chance that Tunbridge and all the rest will know you posted.  To make sure I'll send Tunbridge a PM (personal message) which you won't be able to do until you've made 3 posts - if you reply to this that'll make 2.

Hi Rory - how nice to hear from you.   It is indeed a small world - imagine your mother being instrumental in the book about Broomhouse.  Lorna Alliston has sent me a copy which is well written and has give me an image of the village where my grandmother was born.  The photos included in the book were of great interest as well.
