Hi Teesearcher,
Have you checked the RC members Interests list? Top of this page 4th button from left "Surnames".  You might just be lucky- and anyhow why not post your names there?

Good luck,
charlotte

Hi Sophy
I am looking for living family members of William. You obviously have an interest in family history.
Do you know anything about the Whinfrey family bible?

William was my mother's uncle who died of wounds on 28th April 1916. The family bible was in the care of my aunt but seems to have disappeared. I know it had in it a letter from his commanding officer giving the cause of his death, and this is lost too.
His parents kept the Red Lion in Tickhill but retired to 23 Cliffe Field Road Sheffield. My mother's mother was brought up in the Red Lion, and left to marry Harold Rawson, a local builder who ran the business with his brother.
I can give you more information is you would like.

A number of years ago the family bible came up for sale on eBay!  I realised its significance and bid for it paying rather more than I should but when it arrived I found items inside.
I am sure you will understand me being cautious as I would not like it to be sold again on ebay and I don't know why it was originally up for sale.
However, I can understand if it has been lost given what is inside it is indeed a huge loss.
