Moses Creasey 1826 Walcott
« on: Tuesday 10 November 09 21:28 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the parents of this Moses. In 1841 he was a Farm Servant in Nottinghamshire and in 1851 a Rail Labourer in Doncaster living with wife Ellen Waud who he married in 1849. His birth place is shown as Walkerd, Lincolnshire which I think is Walcott in Billinghay Parish.

Moses went to live in Canada and had several children there. One of the children was called John Franklin Creasey.

My theory is that he might be another illigit son for Elizabeth Creasey 1798-1828 who had Ann Holmes Creasey and Holmes Creasey. Elizabeth Creaseys brother was John 1802-1847 whose wife was Mary Franklin. John and Elizabeth had their own son Moses Creasey but my thinking is that John and Mary raised the younger Moses after Elizabeths death - hence the naming John Franklin Creasey

Attempting to help a Canadian descendant and would appreciate help. Currently cant locate my Bastardy book

Best regards

Jacky

Hi

You didn't give his birthyear - 1851 shows it as 1826

Speaking of banging heads against Walls, let me join you. My FTM File and its backup has announced that it is corrupted. Usually save to a different name very frequently but this time its 14. My own stupid fault but still frustrated!!!!

Now to remember what I did during the last 14 days.

I am currently transcribing those records for the Timberland Walcot area at that time for FreeReg so have scans of the original parish register.

However, I can't see a Moses Creasey on the register at that time 1825-1827 , which I have just looked through quickly as haven't quite got up to transcibing those years.  A look on IGI also shows no Moses Creasey born in Timberlnad/ Walcot at that time.  The only births around those few years for Creaseys are Samuel and Abraham, both of whom were born in wedlock.

I think there is another Walcot near Folkingham but looking at IGI at that period there appears to be no Creasey's ?

Edit : Also looking on Free Reg there does appear to be a Moses Creasey around in Walcot/ Billinghay area but that is a few years later chr. 1844

Thank you for looking for me. I think Walcott is in Billinghay Parish rather than Timberland.

Best regards,
