Does anyone know where the passenger lists for Irish Immigration to Liverpool in the 1840/1850's are held.

Hi moyawarr,
There were no passenger lists kept of people travelling between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

HI I have 4 orphan irish sisters who somehow ended up in Liverpool from donegal Ireland abt 1839 they were Alice Susan, Ellen, Mary & Rose Scanlin/Scanlon/Scanlan they were transported too Australia aboard the Champion and arrived in Nov 1840. Their parents were james Scanlin and Mary Ann Brynes. I have been trying too find more information on how these children ended up in Liverpool before being transported too australia. If their parents died in Ireland where did they stay before being transported too Liverpool, when they arrived there where did they stay, what happen too their parents I gess I will never know but if anyone can help point me in the right direction as too learning more about their time before they arrived in australia this would be wonderful and or what records too look into this would be a greta help

Can't answer a lot of your questions but I can tell you that in the 1800s there were emigration agents all over Ireland, including Donegal, who arranged passage to the US, Australia, New Zealand etc. Many sailings left Liverpool and often free passage from Ireland to Liverpool was thrown in. Many of the shipping companies had arrangements with seedy hotels in Liverpool for accommodation prior to sailing. They would probably have sailed from Derry to Liverpool, but that's just a surmise. Thank you Elwyn I will check it out. Its a shame they didnt keep alot of records on who were aboard the ships and what not. I cannot find anything about them being aboard this ship from my end here in australia so frustrating. It would be really nice too fill in some of my missing bits and peices someday :)
