1851 Kintbury census - MILLS (not HILL) and NEW **COMPLETED**
« on: Monday 09 November 09 09:47 GMT (UK) »
Sincere apologies - I have just found out that the name should be MILLS!

Would someone please be able to look up Caroline (bn 1821) and John MILLS and
tell me if they are listed in the 1851 Census.  I would like to know all members of the
household.

In the same Census I am looking for Henry and Elizabeth (abt 1825) NEW and any family.

Many thanks
Julie in Aus

Unfortunately, you haven't provided very much information from which to work. What was the source of your information? Do you know where the Hills and News were born?

There is the following in the 1851 Census:

HO107; Piece: 1685; Folio: 48; Page: 7
Newtown, Thatcham, Berkshire
Henry New                 Head Mar 30 Agricultural labourer          Hants, Kingsclere
Elizabeth New            Wife Mar 26                                            Berks, Kintsbury
Mary New                   Dau 6                  Scholar                        Berks, Thatcham
Luisa New                   Dau 3                                                     Berks, Thatcham
Rose Hannah New      Dau 8 Months                                         Berks, Thatcham

Nigel
Essex - Burrell, Thorogood
Norfolk - Alcock, Bowen, Bowers, Breeze, Burton, Creamer, Hammond, Sparkes, Wakefield, Wiggett
North Devon - Burgess, Chalacombe, Collacott, Goss
Northamptonshire - George, Letts, Muscutt, Richardson

Thank you for the info you've given me Nigel and it seems they are the "NEW" family I am looking for.  Is it possible for you to tell me if there are any other children with them in the 1861 Census.
Unfortunately I know very little about these families.

Caroline MILLS (nee Randall)  was probably born in Kintbury.

Hi there
Found your Caroline and John Mills on the 1851 census. Caroline is living with her parents William and Sarah Randall. Both Wm and John are classed as Agricultural Labourers.
William Randall  66  b  Kintbury
Sarah                 68  b     "
John Mills   son in law  looks like either 28 or 38 but a line through it so cant see it very well     b Kintbury
Caroline 30   b  Kintbury
Then in the 1861 census I found Caroline again
John is now the Head and is now 50 yrs and Sarah is still there but William is not
Still no children mentioned
Hope this helps
