With reference to Reply #3, while I was looking up the wife of Varto BOSWELL:
WOR Wick bp3/6/1798 Cinderella d/o William/Sloneamy HALL (noi),
I also checked another BOSWELL baptised at Wick, John son of Thomas and Mary in 1815, but there was no evidence of gipsy. It looks as if Wick had a non-gipsy population of BOSWELLs, however, the fact that your ancestor's place of birth is given as Wick is relevant even if he was not baptised there.
I do not know whether your ancestors were gipsies or not but William is an interesting name in this context because the name Riley BOSWELL also appears as William Riley BOSWELL.
Varto and Cinderella subsequently had a connection to the famous Riley BOSWELL and although the name William has always been common, it was Cinderella's father's name, too.
