South Weald baptisms - SETCH
« on: Thursday 05 November 09 19:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Can anybody help with a baptism for Mary Setch born sometime between 1831 and 1835.

On census returns she gives her birthplace as either Brentwood or South Weald. Her father was Robert Setch, (as per her marriage certificate) but she doesn't show up on the 1841 census with the only Robert Setch I could find in South Weald.

Thanks
Bones ;)

Hello,

Not sure if your still interested 2 years on but Mary Setch was my Great Great Great Grandmother, from Brentwood, who married James Young (born in Chelmsford in 1826) a footman on 28th January 1850 at St John's Stratford. Robert was her father and Elizabeth Guy, her mother.

She was born in Brentwood in 1832, at South Weald Robert registered a child, we think called Samuel Setch in 1840.

Hope that helps

Hi Lambie,

Many thanks for the reply, I had almost given up hope with Mary. She was also my Gt Gt Gt Grandmother, her daughter Jane married George Tattle 2/9/1878 in Marylebone, London. Do you have any more info on the Setch family ?
