Well done. I looked at this same  page many moons ago and saw the the death at sea on the next line, but not this entry !!!
Certainly the death notice fits "our" Henry.

I have been hoping that Henry's grave might have been in the Mount Jerome Cemetery and would eventually appear here :-

But not yet anyway...

Evequeste
You found him !!!!
Some very good people in the Cork County Library looked up the obit. Here is the reply:-
The full wording of the death notice is:
February 2, Henry Davis, Esq., senior coroner of the county Dublin, aged 64 years.
(The Cork Examiner February 6th 1864)
Two websites that may be of interest (subscription based) are http://www.irishnewsarchive.com/ and www.irishtimes.com (digital archive), both of these should mention inquests conducted by Coroner Davis and may also have a more lengthy notice for his own death.
good wishes

Freemans Journal (Dublin), Monday Nov 14, 1842

To the Electors of the County of Dublin
Gentlemen,
I offer myself as a candidate for the office of Coroner of your County, now vacant.
In doing so I am aware that it is an office of trust and great responsibility, but relying on my experience as a practising Solicitor, my general knowledge of the peculiar duties of that office, and a fixed determination, if elected, to bring to their discharge the utmost attention and impartiality, I feel confident that, if successful, I shall justify the confidence and support I am ambitious of obtaining.
I remain, Gentlemen, your obedient servant
Henry Davis
Dublin, 2 Upper Ormond Quay, Nov 12, 1842

This appeal appeared daily until 17th November when it appeared with the following added
"Mr Davis requests an early attendance of his Friends at the Hustings this day"

regards

An error in the date of my  last post.
Henry died 1865 aged 64 , not 1864. I had a further email from the library with the correction

And thanks Evequest and Hanes teulu for your posts
