Hi Lyn

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

I have hemingways and seniors in my family tree, while i have found hemingway and senior a common name in the west riding of yorkshire, i'm just hoping that maybe someone has crossed my paths, i am looking for a william hemingway born early 1837 in Earlsheaton(William was 44  1881 census)i have checked the indexes no trace of a William from the Sept1/4 onwards,so this has led me to believe it was before births were recorded.I  have a copy of the 1841 census but its unreadable in many places. The 'seniors married into the hemingway family when williams daughter ,ellen selina, married a Abraham Senior in July 1881.(abraham was from the WestVale area of Dewsbury. I am not local to Dewsbury/Yorkshire area, any help would be appreciated

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I have not found my Seniors & Hemmingways to be connected.
My Hemmingways seem to be from the Calverley area. I found them on, www.calverley.info
In fact although there is a massive one name study on the Hemmingways around the Dewsbury area. I have never managed to connect mine with any other Hemmingway families....

My Seniors are well documented on the www.familysearch.org (IGI)
They come from the Kirkburton area.

I was once told that the origin of the name Senior meant senior peasant of the village.  :o

Hope this is of some help.
