Thanks once again this is a great help.  Ann's baptism date is useful she was 'supposedly born in Ceylon in 1814 when her father was serving in the first Ceylon Regiment ... lots more work to be done on this.

Kind regards

Tiatai

Hi Taitia I have just come across an Ann Cleather Loane here in Australia.  She married here in 1844 as it is such an unusual name I thought I would let you know.  I am now waiting for her marriage certificate and birth certificate of her first two children to see if she is one in the same, seems too coincidental doesn't it.  Her death cert gives her parents as unknown so I am hoping that the marriage may give me some indication though it is quite early and not all the info was recorded at this time like later ones.  I will post the result when I receive the certs in about 2-3 weeks time.
Regards, Margaret

Hi

Far too much of a coincidence - As you know the family came to Australia - Tasmania to be exact 1825 Anne and Richard were in 1824 living with their Grandmother - Mrs Loane's mother.

I would appreciate any information on the marriages that you may be willing to share.

Regards Tiatai

Hi, thanks for replying, so far Ann Cleather Loane married John Tipping 1844 (I am currently waiting for the marriage certificate to arrive so will advise you when I receive. they married at Dungog NSW Australia.
Thursday 21st November 1833 Miss Louisa Loan eldest Daughter of Major Loane to Mr Henry Coulson of Sydney.
Married Thursday 16th January, 1845 Frances Mary Ann eldest daughter of the Late Major Loane, at St Davids Church Hobart Town by the Rev. Dr Bedford - John Tomes Esq. Deputy Assistant Commisory-General.
More information is to be found by going to NLA Australian Newspapers beta which is a website that contains a lot of the old australian papers which have been digitalised by our Govt.  Just put in what you want to search for I put in Major Loane and all the results popped up.  You will have to search through all  the results but they contain the arrival notice of the family on the Harvey arriving in Hobart in 1825 and also their death notices, both Boyle and his wife. Please let me know how you go,
regards Margaret
