Help with passenger lists please.
« on: Monday 02 November 09 23:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  I am trying to find information on John James born in 1852 in Glamorgan, Wales. In 1911 he came to Queensland for a year's holiday and to attend his nieces wedding which was in Rockhampton  June 1912 and he then returned home. I can find very little information about him and I am hoping that there may be shipping records to and from Australia in 1911/ 1912 that may have information about him. Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I might find these.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Pauline

There are about a dozen entries for the passenger name John James born 1852 on the site www.findmypast.com.   I've copied the entry for one going to Rockhampton in 1911 but I'm not sure it's much help.   I'll try sending it with this but I've not done this before so hope it works.  He's listed as English and a railway worker, as are most on that page.

Hi Chandos,

Thank you so much for your help. My John James was a miner on the earlier census and then I think he was a decorator but by the time he came to Australia he had retired. Having such a common name it has been so difficult to find information about him but I will keep trying.

Thank you once again I do appreciate you looking for me.
