MacInness/MacGuinness-Annabella 1824
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 19:33 GMT (UK) »
I've been trying for some time to track down my great great grandmother who's name I thought was Annabella MacInness. She was born in Belfast in 1824 and married a Scotsman, Andrew Aitken in 1940. The one document I have with her name states Annabella MacInnes (although it's quite difficult to read as the writing is so small) but I have found someone I assume to still be her with several different variations of both names ??? I understand a lot of it is down to accents and ignorance, but if I don't know what her name actually was, how can I find her and her ancestors? I would like to know when she came to Scotland, but it would have been by ferry and therefore no record, as there would have been had she gone to the USA. She really has been a stumbling block and I don't really understand the Irish system, I haven't been able to find any trace of her in Ireland though. Can anyone put me out of my misery? :(
Liz
