Curran and Stevenson Ramelton

Patrick Curran, a Catholic, married Catherine Stevenson, a Presbyterian, at All Saints Newton in 1858.  Both kept their religions and their sons were raised in the faith of their father, and the daughters in the faith of their mother.
They had 7 children born alive, by 1911 6 were still living.  They were all born in Ramelton as far as I can tell, but not too sure about the birthplace of the 2 eldest, Joseph and Catherine Ellen, they may have been born in All Saints parish.

Patrick's father was Charles Curran, Catherine's father was Joseph Stevenson.
Charles died at Roughan, Ramelton 1917 and is buried in Tully graveyard.
Catherine died at Clooney, Ramelton 1914 and is buried with her Stevenson ancestors in the old Presbyterian/Church of Ireland graveyard in Church Street, Ramelton.

Can anyone link to these families?  The Stevensons have links to Buchanan and Ferguson in Ramelton.
One of Patrick and Catherine's daughters married James Black, Church of  Ireland faith, they had a son, James born about 1896.

I'm replying to an old post. Are you still involved in this research?  Do you have a marriage certificate for James Black and the Curran daughter? I'm also researching James Black Donegal and was wonder if my ancestor was the James Black aged 3 in the 1901 census living with Patrick and Catherine in Donegal.

A Margaret (a.k.a. Maggie) Curran, daughter of Patrick, got married to James Black (an attendant at the District Asylum) in 1895, their address at time of marriage was the townland of Conwal (Letterkenny), they had a son James on 31 May 1897.

Yes, I am still interested in the Black connection, although all I can I tell you is that after Margaret Curran's early death, her husband re-married and lived in Londonderry. I think he is there in the 1911 census with new wife, son James and further children.

Margaret and James married 12 Dec 1895 3rd Presbyterian Church, Letterkenny. She must have died around the time of her son's birth but I don't know exactly when.
Her eldest sister visited from Canada in 1923 and gave her address in Ireland as c/o her brother-in-law James Black, 1 Northland Avenue, Derry.

Patrick died at the Roughan, Ramelton in 1917. Not Charles.

Many thanks Lodger. If James his son was with his father in the 1911 census it's not likely he was my relative as I'm 90% sure mine was living in tyrone at the time.

I'm sure it's the same family as the father has 4 children but the mother only has 3 children born.
So James must be her stepson.

And, of course, when my great-grandfather's sister arrived from Canada she gave this address as her place of residence during her visit.

I wonder if Catherine is a sister to my great great grandmother Rachel Davis - nee Stevenson.  #gaffy you found a William Stevenson from Clooney who was present at George Davis death in 1888.  I'm wondering if he was also a relation.

Rachel was born circa 1839 and died Dec 1814, at the High Cairn (near Clooney)  Her daughter married a Buchanan, and they lived at The High Cairn - outside Ramelton.
