Just something else I found to do with the war.

There is a George and Arthur Wymer on this site:

http://muse.aucklandmuseum.com/databases/cenotaph/locations.aspx

I have no idea the connection or where they fit in ..... but they were living in Rosedale Road

Henry Benjamin and Isaac George Wymer were listed as 2nd Reservists WW1 and classed as having 3 Children.

Lu,

I think I have solved the mystery for the Alice that was listed on the Franklin Rolls and listed as spinster.

There is a death at Manukau Memorial Gardens for a Alice Weymer 1986 aged 83, which makes birth about 1902/1903.

Probably because I didn't spot it, I was spelling the surname wrong . :-[ :-[ :-[

I also found another entry for Alice for Avondale school admission 1 Sept 1913 ....

Cheers

Mystery solved.   Cool !    :)

Yes ... I'd spotted the George and Arthur WYMER on WWI list, earlier.

Their father was Enoch WYMER.

NZ Death

1949 - WYMER - Enoch - 79 years (bc 1870)

Seems he may be same chap as on 1881 UK census, living in Norfolk with parents Robert and Caroline ?

There's a UK birth (Norfolk) also for "Arthur Enoch WYMER - 1897" who seems to be the Arthur WYMER serving in NZ Forces WW1 ?

Added:    Also UK (Norfolk) birth for George Robert WYMER (March 1896) - NZ Death = 1959 aged 63 years = bc 1896 :

On the BDM site, Miss Alice Wymer's date of birth is listed as 4 December 1904.  Can't seem to find parents.

Hi KHP

I have a feeling (still investigating), that "Miss Alice - dob 1904" may have been a daughter of Enoch WYMER ?    There is also a "mysterious" Ellen WYMER - bc 1899 - who is maybe a sister of Alice ?

Depending on weather I will nip along to the cemetery tomorrow, take photos, get dates of death for death notices,  which will hopefully give some new twigs for Magic to add to tree.

 :)

Seems to be a connection between these two WYMER families (Rosebank Road in school records / Rosebank, Avondale on the War records). ?

Possibly Enoch is the younger brother of Isaac WYMER ?
It's such an unusal name - not a great many listed on UK records ... and those in NZ appear to descend from Isaac and Enoch ?
