Hi
Did you have any luck finding relatives of Thomas the mock bishop? I'm curious as Thomas brother John is said to be in my line.
Thanks
Sharon

Hi Leani
I cannot claim any relationship with the Coppocks but wonder if the following my help.  Hale, Bowdon and Timperley were all in the parisih of Bowdon in the time you are considering so it is the Bowdon Parish Records I would concentrate on.  Bowdon Parish Church has a website which provides a means of contacting their Archivist who has a wealth of information.

Your earliest Coppock mentioned is John Coppock of Hale, Tanner, born 1686.  Was this from the parsih record?  There are in print three books called Bowdon Wills each covering periods 1600-1650, 1651-1689 and 1690-1760.  Each makes reference to the Coppock family including John Coppock of Hale, tanner in other peoples Wills.  There is also reference to the Coppock family in Ashton and Sale Wills 1600-1650.  All four are designated a NWAS Publication (Northern Writers Advisory Services ).

Cheshire West and Chester Council have a Wills Database Online.   This is an index to Cheshire Wills and enables you to purchase those you wish.  There were 60 between 1600 and 1650.  Many in the townships you mentioned and many nearby from my own knowledge.

There is a Will 'written' by Elizabeth Coppock of Timperley, Spinster dated 1734.   I know of a place in Hale called Oaklands but I think there was also a place in Timperley with the same name.   Does the document you have seen refer to it as Manor?

I hope some at least is new to you.
Regards
Reiver
