Hit a brick wall with cemetary records - can anyone help?
« on: Monday 26 October 09 20:53 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help? I'm trying to find some very elusive ancestors, who have turned up in the 1911 Census, but many of them do not seem to be registered in the births or deaths index (I have enquired at both Dublin and Wexford). I'd really like to find out where they are buried, but I've completely hit a wall and was wondering if there is anyone who has Brian J. Cantwell's index to Graveyards and Churches who would be willing to do a search? I'm trying to find the graves of the O'Brien family:

James O'Brien - no certificates found, but approx. date of birth 1854.
Elizabeth O'Brien - death certificate found, date of death: 18th March, 1954 age 82
Edward O'Brien - birth certificate found for 1891 but no death certificate.
Patrick O'Brien - birth certificate found (not buried in Ireland).
James O'Brien - no birth or death certificate. (Approx. date of birth: 1894)
Mary O'Brien - no birth or death certificate. (Approx. date of birth: 1896)
Michael O'Brien - birth certificate for 1897; no death certificate.
Thomas O'Brien - Born: 12.9.1899, Died: 27.2.1968
John O'Brien - no birth or death certificate. (Approx. date of birth: 1900)
Margaret O'Brien - Born: 14.8.1903, no death certificate.
Denis O'Brien - no birth or death certificate (Approx. date of birth: 1903/1904)
Bridget O'Brien - Born: 15.8.1905, no death certificate.
Kate O'Brien - no birth or death certificate (Approx. date of birth: 1906)
Aiden O'Brien - no birth or death certificate (Approx. date of birth: 1909 - Approx. date of death: Between 1929-1945). May be sometimes spelled "Aidan".

Is there anyone who owns Cantwell's Index of Cemeteries who would be willing to do a search of Wexford cemeteries for any of these people? If one of them is buried in a particular cemetery, it's probably a guarantee that all the others are there. The family's address was Ballygibbon, Templeludigan, Wexford.
Thank you very much,
Tamsin

Interment.net gives a list of some cemeteries in Wexford and the surname O Brien is featured in a few of them.

Hi Manus - thanks for your reply. Would you know whereabouts this cemetery is - or if it's anywhere near Rathnure in Co. Wexford? Unfortunately none of the O'Brien children married and the last one to die was John (I should have made it clear in the original message that there would be no spouses or children included in the burial sites save for the parents James and Eliza). I may also be completely mistaken in assuming they would all be buried in the same cemetery. However, Plot 156 sounds like it could be a very good possibility, so many thanks for your post :)

Manus - many thanks for that - I'll get on to Gorey and it may help narrow down the field  :)
