Calling All Porters.
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 20:48 GMT (UK) »
H
I am trying to research my late father-in-laws side of the family.
His name was Henry Lionel Porter Born 1904.  In London.

He would never discuss his family other to say he had 2 brothers and 1 sister.

His father was  Edward James Porter. from London.  Born 1871

Mother was Emily Porter (nee Cain) from Plymouth.  Born 1874/5

Brothers Edward, born about 1895

William  born about 1899

and sister Ellen born about 1896. This information was obtained from a Census.

I would really love to hear from any one who has his brothers and sister in their family tree.

Hoping there is some one out there that can help me.

Thank you for reading.

Shirlann.

Shirlann,
I read the header and took it as an instruction! (Porter is a strong family name for me), but unfortunately we are all Scottish and Irish.
Hope someone from your branch reads this - good luck,
Maggie 1895

Hi Shirlann, having a bit of a mare trying to navigate around this website, so I'm replying to this thread as I can't find a way to reply to your message.

No no, not upsetting to me at all - fascinated.  So how do the Porters relate to the Harts?  I would love to know how far you've got and what's the connection if you're happy to share?

Seems like a mind field knowing where to start etc.

All I know is that Ivy's father (and his brother) were land owners from Essex then moved to London?!!?  And Dick was from Glasgow as you already know...

thanks for sharing anything you have if that's not too presumes?
