Pleasure Chris, glad it was of use  :)

(I'm only occasionally cantankerous, and greatly misunderstood  :D )

actually, its moot if the 'official' 1901 census you quoted has it wrong, or the Ancestry entry (which has mum Harriett shown as Harriet SKeet in their index, altho I think the image looks like Harriet S Kent !)

However, looking at the 1891 census, I think Ancestry was right, as the family show up as Skeats (and another anomaly is that Francis is shown as age 3 or perhaps 5 ....)

Let me know if you wish to pursue it?
I am on the library computer....3 mins left.
Sorry im a bit slow.
do you think it is skeat rather than kent?

i have no computer at home....chris.

Hello curmudgeon.

Many Thanks for all your help.

We were all sure this was the Francis....Addlestone , etc.

You maybe right, he could have been born elsewhere.

The lady who we email to is my Dads Uncles , Granddaughter, ( a member here on rootschat sent a message for me to the lady who was on Genes ).

Thanks again....chris.

It's Skeats - I've just been given the task of tracing my husbands tree and we have gone as far back as william skeats (Chobham 1862) Married Harriet Watts (Brighton 1861) in Chertsey 1881, we had 4 kids, Mabel, Francis, William and Charles.  Charles is Paul's (my hubby) great great grandfather.  Haven't got any further back than that yet.  So I think we have a link.  Do you still track ancestry?

Chris  I've found you again after trawling through some other Skeats stuff.  Do you still do skeats research?  Your Francis S Kent AKA Francis Skeats is my husbands great great uncle.  I wonder if we could share somenotes (or rather you gove to me as I doubt I have anything you dont already have )
