St Stephens orphanage Mickelgate York
« on: Tuesday 20 October 09 15:31 BST (UK) »
The 1891 census shows Mary A Schofield, born Aldershot, aged 16 in St Stephens Orphanage York.  In 1881 she was living in Bury with parents so obviously George (B 1845) and hannah nora/annie honora (B 1835 or 1845 - census gives diff date to wedding cert) had died.  Has anyone got any information on this orphanage or know if any records exist?
