Additional news regarding the children of James and Sarah O Neill - apparently there were 12 children in total of whom only 6 survived - apparently there was a bad fire either at the forge or the house -( not know) and as the story goes, some of the children - must be the elder children died - but have found nothing concrete to back this up and not sure if all died or just some!!.
James and Sarah are both buried in Priesthaggard graveyard near Kilmokea House not far from Whitechurch.
On the 1901 census returns - as well as James(jr) and Sarah - also listed on the return is James Snr O Neill and his wife Catherine - he is listed as a gardener and born in Co Wexford.
Did they leave Ireland to go to Liverpool , where James Jr ( 1851) was born and then return to Whitechurch - the mystery deepens.

I'm hoping you're the same LyndaIrish that's on Ancestry. If not, please let me know & if you are then I'd like to hear from you even more.

Ancestry is very limiting to contact other members without being a paid member and a LindaIrish saved a copy of info for MaryAnn Shoebottom. If you're researching that line, I'd be quite interested in comparing/sharing info as there's a lot of Shoebottom/Shoebotham's in my Guest line.

Best bet is to contact me off board at *

Hope to hear from you soon,
Mike Guest

Hi Maureen, i wondered if it was OK to post you as I'm a great granddaughter of James& Sarah O'Neill of Whitechurch. My grandfather was their youngest child James( born 1894).I have been looking into family tree and have recently messaged Lindairish, who mentioned that you had information about the fire and that there were 12 children. I visited Whitechurch with my father last May and met up with John Boland  and later in August Jim Boland.Any information you could share would be much appreciated ( and vice versa)
Regards
Joanie Barber(O'Neill)
