Hi
You probably have the marriage of John to Jane Merrick 1834-03-31 at Castle Church Stafford ?.
The following is offered for consideration, without verification :
1851Census - Film 2016 Folio 193 / B shows
John Newman - visitor 45 married -
Sergeant # # ( 2 indecipherable letters ) Staffordshire Militia - born Windsor Berks
John possibly died 1868-Q4 Stafford ?
His son John shown with Jane in 1851 seems too old to be the son of Jane ?
Could Jane have been a second wife ?
Could that 'L P' in the 61 reference indicate 'something' pensioner ?? wild guess ?
The 71 reference mentions Alfred P Newman 13 b. Ellesmere SAL
FreeBDM has : Alfred Pointon Newman b.1858-Q4 Ellesmere, Married 1882-Q4 St Asaph ( Wales area ) plus
another Marriage 1892-Q3 at Halifax,and a possible Death 1927-Q1 at Cardiff ??
1881 Film 3541 Folio 55 at Nantwich has an Alfred 22 un-married b. Ellesmere a Chemist & Druggist
with his Parents - Henry 43 & Eliza 55 ( Henry possibly the son of John & Jane ).
Going back to John,the son ( b.c1829 ) - possibly d. 1882-Q1 Stafford
He may have married Ann SCANDRETT - 1859-Q3 Stafford
1881 Film 2688 Folio 146 at Stafford shows ( all b. Stafford )
John 53 Cordwainer, Ann 51,
John 20 ( possibly d.1928-Q3 and married Ann Richardson 1885-Q2 ),
George Henry 18 ( possibly d.1884-Q1 ? ), Frederick A 13 ( possibly d.1942-Q1 ), Arthur Edward 9.
Rebecca b.1838-Q1 possibly married Samuel Evans - 1859-Q1 Stafford
This may account for the Samuel H Evans b. Liverpool and aged 6 in the 1871 reference.
Sarah Jane b.1846-Q4, possibly married 1865-Q2 Stafford ?
If you can confirm any I would be grateful
