Let me get this straight somehow I made a booboo! :o :(

I thought I was being very careful I got an IGI for an Angus McGregor born Feb 1834 in Kenmore I took that as being the right Angus Snr as Angus jnr Marrage entry had said his fathers name was Angus. I must have put 2+2 together and got 5

So Angus Snr is not Angus he's Alexander! Still trying to take in the discoveries

Yes - he's Alexander and his father was Duncan.  Here they are in 1841:

1841
Blairmore Cottage, Fowlis Wester 357 - ED 3  Page 6

McGregor
Duncan, 25, tailor
Betsey, 25
Alexr, 2
James, 6 months

Duncan b. Scotland, others b. Perthshire

Note that on the 1841 ages of those over 15 were usually rounded down into 5 year age groups so that 25 could be anything between 25 and 29

I have attached a copy of the 1871 Census for Angus McGregor. Unfortunatly I cannot read the Place of Birth all I can read is Perthshire, think it is Fowlis Wester. will have a look at an other Census

Hi

To me it looks very like Fowlis Wester so what we've now found is the correct line  :)

But I've already given you this  :-\

Details from the marriage cetificate of Alexander McGregor and Janet Stewart, Fowlis Wester (Free Church, ?Gilmorton?) on 20th December 1861:

Alexander McGregor, ploughman, bachelor, aged 22. Residence - Blackford.
Parents - Duncan McGregor, Tailor and Betsy m.s. Hunter (decesed)

and

Janet Stewart, domestic servant, spinster, aged 20. Residen ce - ?Gilmorton.
Parents - Angus Stewart, ploughman and Margaret m.s. McGegor (deceased)

Witnesses - D McDiarmid and Alex McLaren

So Angus (father of Isabella was probably named after his maternal grandfather)

1871:
Fowlis Wester, Perthshire - 357 ED 7 Page 5
McGregor
Alex, 29, labourer
Janet, 26, b. Edinburgh
Duncan,   8
Angus, 6
George , 5
Alex, 2
Peter , 1

All except Janet b. Fowlis Wester

My Brain is frazzled I realised after I got the 1871 census that you had given me the details already... will pick another census to try...might try 1901 that should give me some details about Isabella

Thankyou so much for your help.. cannot believe I was such a noob at this tree :-[

Wouldn't worry about having to change your assumptions. If it were straightforward it wouldn't be interesting.
At least you now have a reasonably robust tree with opportunities to take the McGregors further back.
I now have some more info on people in Aberfeldy mill thanks to your original post which I can build on.
So all is well :)

Hi Lorica

I've been looking for Isabella/variations on the 1901 on and off for the last few hours and this is still the best that I can come up with. I can't see how the Clark surname would fit in but there is a Janet (poss witness on the marriage of 1912) and some of the names seem to fit   :-\

There's an interesting family on the 1901:

139 High Streeet, Auchterarder  329 ED 7 page 2

David Clark, 64
Isabella, 53

(others)  and grandchildren:

McGregor
Alexander, 11, b. Grahamstown, Stirlingshire
Isabella, 7, b. Glasgow
Janet, 5, b. Glasgow
Anguss, 3, b. Glasgow

It's a large entry so worth you considering it.

I'll check up on these births and get back
