Think this is Duncan and Betsy on the 185 1 with their ages down wrongly (should be in their 30s not 50s !)

Pellandie, Fowlis Wester - 357 ED 2 Page 1

Gregor
Duncan M, 56 (?36), tailor, b. Fortingall
Betsy, 55 (?35)
Alexdr, 14
James, 12

Betsy, 2

All but Duncan born Fowlis Wester

sorry for loging off without saying I was going had computer issues!!!

Been to the Library this morning didnt have long unfortunatly but this is what I have found:-

1841 Fowlis Wester 357 ED3 Pg 6
Duncan 25 Tailor
Betsy 25
Alexander 2
James 6mo

1851 Fowlis Wester 357 ED2 Pg1
Duncan 56! Tailor
Betsy 56!
Alexander 14
James 12
John 10
Mary 7
Margaret 5
Betsy 2

1861 Fowlis Wester 357 ED1 Pg3
Duncan 46 (Widower) Master Tailor
Mary 16 Domestic Servant
Margaret 14 Domestic Servant
Betsy 11
Cathrine 8

1871 Fowlis Wester 357 ED7 Pg5
Alexander 29 Labourer Fowlis Wester
Janet 26  Edinburgh
Duncan 8
Angus 6
George 5
Alex 2
Peter 1

Alexander and family dont live in Fowlis Village itself they live in a small village within the parish of Fowlis Wester. The village is Gilmerton

The reference from SP to an Isabella Mcgregor born 06/10/1871 Fowlis Wester didnt show as a daughter of Alexander and Janet did find out that the 1871 cesus was carried out on the 3rd April which explains why Isabella didnt show on cesus she wasnt born till later in the year, and she would proberly be born in Gilmerton.

Hi Lorica

Very good but, if you check back on this thread you'll find that apart from the 1861 census, I'd already listed all that yesterday/last night  :-\

Hi Lorica  :)

All this info came very quickly so it's a lot to take in at once.

I think the best thing might be for you to get it all together and if there are any more queries to come back and ask.

New issue!!!! Gadget!!!!!!!

Isabella Clark (MS McGregor) I have now got the marriage entry in the register.

Isabella was 32 and a widow, her father was Donald McGregor, and mother was Janet McGregor cannot read Janets Maiden name looks like Deuchass / Deuchars. The entry still hasn't shed much light on her place in the McGregor family...... :-\ ???

One interesting point I thought was she got married to David in the Free Church, Alexander was christened in the Free Church.

I also thought Donald's job was interesting! He was a Policeman in the early to mid 1800's

So born circa 1846 then.

What was her father's occupation given as?

Does it give any info about her previous husband?

Added - did you mean that Donald, her father  or Donald her husband was a policeman?
