Boulton of Hanley

Thanks,as you will see from my first message to this thread your mention of the name Lydia is very interesting.In fact one of the children I have recorded of George Boulton and Lydia Mountford is a Mary Boulton who I have born in Hanley in 1826.I don't as yet have info as to who she married.

Hi, I have Robert Tew = Mary Boulton 16/9/1844 (see IGI at www.familysearch.org)

I am assuming, but have not yet checked, that Robert Tew was christened 20/10/1824 in Hanley (again IGI at www.familysearch.org), with parents being Thomas Tew and Elizabeth Key

Nothing 100% proven as yet, but..

1841 Census - I can only find one Robert Tew in Staffordshire (listed as b1821)
Robert is living with his parents Thomas and Elizabeth TEW so I am 100% sure that Robert is the elder brother of my Great Great Grandfather Edward John Tew (b1843).

Robert married one Mary Boulton 1865.

1841 Census - there are 3 Mary Boultons listed as born 1826, however one, your ancestor with parents George and Lydia, also has another child Harriet (b1828).

This could be pure speculation on my part, but both Harriet and Lydia are recurring christian names within later TEW families, my own Grandmother being one such Harriet (b1900), whilst her mother had sisters Harriet and Lydia.

Thanks,I've finally found Mary Tew and her two daughters Ann and Lydia living in Queen St Hanley in 1851.Living next door is Mary's brother Enoch Boulton born in Hanley in 1824.I think this is strong evidence that it was my Mary Boulton who married your Robert Tew.

Do you know where and when Lydia Mountford was born ?

Was it Hanley in 1795 of  Thomas and Frances ?

Yes thats correct,she was the daughter of a Thomas Mountford and I believe a Frances Wright.

Hello,

I to am decended from the Boulton's.

George Boulton and Lydia Mountford are my GGGGG Grandparents.

So far i have discoverd that they had 4 children. Enoch (B 1824), Mary (B 1826), Harriett (B 1828 and from whom im decended, as she married Joseph Hall in 1844) and George (B 1837)

George Boulton and Lydia Mountford married on the 27 Nov 1814. Geroge's parents are Charles Boulton born in Whitchurch, shropshire around 1770 and Mary Dunn however her birth year and place of birth are unknown.

Lydia Mountford was the daughter of Thomas and Frances Wright.

First of all a very warm welcome to Rootschat Rob.A particularly warm welcome to a cousin through the Mountford line for as I said in my previous post I'm descended from Lydia's brother James.

So far I've discovered ten children of Lydia and George Boulton.The ones I have are;

George(1817).Married a Lucy Harrison.

Lydia(1822)
Enoch(1824).Married a Jane Cliffe.
Mary(1826)
Harriet(1829)
Edwin(1832)
Titus(1833)
Ann(1836)

I welcome your info on Harriet,as ever with info given I'll look at the records!
