Mullen
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 10:28 BST (UK) »
I am trying a long shot on this one.

I am looking for Christopher Mullen born about 1909 to Christopher Mullen and Sarah Jane Rowe.

We know Christopher Christy moved to and lived in England and was still alive in the 50s.  If anyone has any information I would be very interested in making contact with them.

regards

thank you for your reply. Yes this is the correct family and I do have there information from the 1911 census.  Christopher senior died a few years later. Incidentally this census has been a great help in finding other relations for Sarah Jane who was a Roe and two of her siblings were living nearby. My father-in-law Gerald, who died in 1974, was born just a few months after this census.
In 1922 we believe he was sent to England to a Naval school? and never returned home. We are searching for him between 1922 & 1927 and again from 1933 to 1942 between these years he was  in the merchant navy ending up as a cook but we cannot trace him in these lost years and were hoping that his brother Christy's family may have known something, if we could find them.

Obbie

I do have the family in the 1939/40 voters role  Sarah Jane, Albert and Joseph but Christy is not there. I do know that he married and was in England in the 50s what I do not know is if he married in England and if he has any family still living there.
Joseph's family are still in Ireland but they cannot through much more information about my father in law Gerald.

For what it,s worth… I have an Ellen Mullen daughter of Christopher Mullen (carpenter) living at Jamestown, Glencullen, Dublin. Ellen first marries John Harold in 1868 (and who appears to have died the same year) and later my GGuncle Thomas Kavanagh  in June 1871. They only have two children whom I am aware of; Patrick 1873 and Christopher 1878

John G

thank you for you reply.

My Christopher Joseph Mullen was a coachman when died in 1915 aged 42 years amking him born circ 1873 to a Joseph Mullen, we believe that he was from County Wicklow but have not been able to confirm this.

His son Christopher "Christy" Mullen  lived in England but we do not know if he was married. His other two sons Albert and Joseph liven in Fairview Dublin with their Mother Albert never married  but Joseph did and his mother Sarah Jane ms Roe  lived with them until her death in 1966.

Gerald Mullen my father in law was sent to England around  1922 to a "Navy School" and later he was in the Merchant Navy until 1933. We have no records of him between 1933 and 1942 when he comes to Scotland as a cook for the American "Seabees" who are installing an oil pipeline.
