Well.. they did arrive in OZ.. so
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 08:42 BST (UK) »
The vessel 'JOHN' from London 1840
departed Gravesend on September 12th, 1839
with Captain Alexander Smith,
arrived Port Adelaide on February 5th, 1840
and on arrival on board were;

BELL, Ann and children Sarah, Frances
BELL, Isaiah Born 1827 Wainfleet St Mary, Lincolnshire, England
BELL, John
BELL, Joseph
BELL, Moses Born 1834 Wainfleet St Mary, Lincolnshire, England

I think Ann's husband had just recently died and she was joining up with family already in OZ.
Can anyone advise on the ages of children Sarah,Frances,John and Joseph?

Thank you ShaunJ .......... I can make them all fit OK.
Still mystified about Ann and her children Sarah and Frances though  ... I wonder if Ann was an unrelated 'Bell' ....... although this raises some doubts because if they were unrelated then the known ages of the children Isaiah 13 and Moses 6 makes me think they might have been too young to travel alone.

I think that the Sarah 1838 who died 1840 should be discounted Robyn and I think that perhaps the Sarah 1836 if she was born in Northampton should be likewise discounted unless they had moved from Lincs to Northampton before she was born ........ which I suppose is a possibility however remote.
Thanks for your input,

Thanks Michael ........... your input does add to the family tree ........... I wish I could resolve the questions that I prevoiusly posed which were;
.....................................................................................................................
(1) Benjamin Bell from Lot 1 was properly named Benjamin 'Providence' Bell and it appears he was a son of John and Ann (nee Taylor) Bell born 1820 Wainfleet and he was travelling with the children of William and Ann Bell .... what was his (John's) relationship with William?
(2) As they went to Adelaide South Australia which is about 1400 km from Sydney New South Wales (a) did they disembark there or (b) did the 'John' sail on to Sydney (I can find no evidence of this) where they joined the rest of their family?  .......... because they all finished up in NSW.
